Why do you want to serve on the school board?
I want to serve on the school board because I am passionate about improving educational options for all students. I am committed to ensuring that every student has access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, and I believe that through thoughtful curriculum development and resource allocation, we can create an environment where every student can thrive.
What do you think are the top 3 priority issues that need to be addressed?
* Keeping elementary school class size small
* Offering a wider range of classes to better prepare students for their future
* Kids physical health and health education
Choose one of the items listed above, what is your proposed plan to address it?
Small class sizes are crucial because they allow teachers to provide more individualized attention, identify and address student needs quickly, and create a more manageable learning environment. This leads to better student engagement, improved academic performance, and stronger teacher-student relationships. Additionally, smaller classes promote social and emotional development, as students can collaborate more closely and receive more guidance in early critical learning stages.
How do you prioritize trades programming (healthcare, mechanical, construction etc) in your middle and high schools?
To prioritize trade programs in middle and high schools, we can integrate hands-on courses into the core curriculum alongside traditional academics. Partnering with local trade schools and businesses for mentorships, internships, and programs to offer students real-world experience.
Additionally, we can collaborate with local businesses in different industries to focus courses in current workforce demands, ensuring students gain relevant skills. Promoting trade career pathways through career fairs, guest speakers, and information sessions can help highlight the value of these professions.
Prioritizing trades ensures students with different interests and strengths are prepared for multiple post-graduation options, including direct entry into high-demand careers.
How would you define excellence in education?
Excellence in education is the pursuit of creating a well-rounded, engaging learning environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential. Excellence in education means incorporating real-world experiences and hands-on learning. It involves high-quality teaching that is innovative, inclusive, and open to diverse learning styles and needs. It involves continuous assessment and adaptation of teaching methods to ensure students remain engaged, motivated, and well-prepared for their future - whether through higher education, trades, or other career paths. Excellence means providing rigorous academic standards, access to opportunities, and ensuring students develop critical thinking, creativity, and life skills.
Excellence is measured not just by test scores, but by students' ability to apply their knowledge, adapt to challenges, and be prepared for the future - whether in higher education, careers, or as a contributing members of society. Ultimately, it's about cultivating lifelong learners who are equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
